Martin Hill Inn consists of two period buildings. The land on which the main and guest houses are located was sold by former Lieutenant Governor George Vaughn to the Martin Family in 1710 for 50 British pounds. Over the years this section of Portsmouth became known as Martin Hill. The main house, circa 1815, contains three guest rooms furnished with period furniture including queen-size canopy or four-poster beds. The guest house, circa 1850, contains four rooms furnished with queen-size can opy, spindle, or iron and brass beds. All rooms have writing tables and sofas or separate sitting areas. Each has a well appointed modern private bath. Distinctive wall papers and window treatments accent the attention to detail and help provide each ro om with its own character. Air conditioning ensures that each of our guests will enjoy a comfortable night's rest.
We hope your visit to Portsmouth will include a stay at the Martin Hill Inn and are confident that your experience will provide you with many special memories.
